What I collect, why, and the care I take with your birth details and consultations.
1. Introduction
I, Acharya Anand ("Practitioner," "I," "me," or "my"), operate the website acharyaanand.in ("Website"). This Privacy Policy explains how I collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you visit the Website, use its free tools, or engage my consultation services. I am committed to safeguarding your privacy and handling your data with care and transparency.
2. Information I Collect
I collect the following categories of personal information:
- Full name, as provided during booking or form submission
- Date of birth, time of birth, and place of birth — essential for astrological chart computation
- Email address, for delivering readings, receipts, and communication
- Phone number (including WhatsApp), for appointment coordination and consultation delivery
- Payment information — processed securely by Razorpay; I do not store card numbers or bank details
- Consultation recordings and notes generated during your session
- Messages, questions, voice notes, and pictures you send me through the enquiry forms or the consultation chat
- For a sankalpa or pooja: the names, gotra, places, and family details you give for it
- A review, if you choose to write one — your words, your name as on your booking, and an optional location
- Your email address (and, if you give them, your name and moon sign) if you subscribe to updates, and a notification address from your browser if you switch on notifications
- Whether an email I sent you was opened, through a small image placed in some of my emails
- Device and browser information, IP address, and usage data collected automatically through cookies and analytics
- A one-way hash of your IP address (a scrambled form, not the address itself), kept with form and free-tool submissions, subscriptions, and sign-in codes to limit abuse
3. How I Use Your Information
Your personal information is used for the following purposes:
- Computing your Vedic birth chart (Kundli), dashas, yogas, and other astrological analyses
- Conducting and delivering personalised astrology consultations
- Processing payments and issuing receipts
- Scheduling, confirming, and managing appointments
- Communicating with you regarding your reading or service updates
- Sending you occasional emails about my readings, each with a link to unsubscribe
- Preparing written reports and sankalpa texts for you
- Improving the Website, services, and user experience
- Maintaining internal records and ensuring quality of consultation
4. Data Storage and Security
Your personal data and consultation records are stored in a database on the servers of the web hosting service that runs this Website. I implement industry-standard security measures, including HTTPS encryption across the entire Website, secure authentication, and access controls. While no system is completely immune to breach, I take all reasonable steps to protect your information from unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.
5. Cookies and Analytics
The Website uses Google Analytics (measurement ID: G-NHSYVLW1D5) to understand how visitors interact with its pages. Google Analytics uses cookies — small text files placed on your device — to collect anonymised usage data such as pages visited, time spent, referral sources, and device type. This data helps me improve the Website experience. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect certain features of the Website but will not prevent you from using my services.
The Website also sets a cookie of its own to keep its forms and sign-in working, and it remembers the birth details you type on your own device, in your browser's storage, so that you do not have to type them again. You can clear both through your browser settings.
6. Third-Party Services
I engage the following third-party services in connection with the Website and consultations:
- Razorpay — for secure payment processing. Razorpay's handling of your payment data is governed by their own privacy policy and PCI-DSS compliance standards.
- A web hosting and email service — it holds the Website's database and sends the emails you receive from me, such as receipts, readings, and sign-in codes.
- Google Analytics — for anonymised website usage analytics.
- A web-font service run by Google — the Website's typefaces are loaded from Google's servers, which therefore receive your IP address and browser details when a page loads.
- A chart-calculation service — to work out your birth chart, your date, time, and place of birth are sent to it, and some of my free tools send this request straight from your browser.
- An AI writing service — to help prepare written reports and sankalpa texts, the details for that piece (such as your name, birth details, and place, and for a sankalpa also the gotra, family names, and phone number you gave) are sent to it.
- A live chat and calling service — when you use the consultation chat or call room, your messages and calls travel through a real-time messaging service and a voice and video calling service.
- A private messaging app — when you submit an enquiry, booking, sankalpa, or similar form, a short alert with the details you entered is sent to me, so that I can respond quickly.
- Your browser's notification service — if you switch on notifications, alerts reach you through the push service of your browser's maker.
- WhatsApp (Meta) — for consultation communication, when selected by you as the preferred channel.
I do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party for marketing purposes.
7. Data Retention
Consultation records, including chart data and session recordings, are retained for your future reference and for my record-keeping. You may request deletion of your consultation records at any time by contacting me. Payment transaction records are retained as required by applicable Indian tax and accounting regulations. Website analytics data is retained in anonymised form and does not contain personally identifiable information.
8. Your Rights
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access — You may request a copy of the personal information I hold about you.
- Correction — You may request corrections to any inaccurate or incomplete personal information.
- Deletion — You may request deletion of your personal data, subject to legal retention requirements.
- Withdrawal of consent — You may withdraw consent for specific data processing activities at any time.
- Data portability — You may request your consultation data in a portable format.

9. Children's Privacy
My services are not directed to individuals under the age of 18. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided me with personal information, please contact me immediately, and I will take steps to delete such information. Consultations for minors may only be booked by their parent or legal guardian.
10. Data Sharing and Disclosure
I do not share your personal information with third parties except in the following circumstances:
- With your explicit consent
- With the service providers listed in section 6, only as far as they need it to deliver the service I use them for
- When required by law, court order, or governmental authority
- To protect my rights, property, or safety, or that of my clients or the public
11. International Users
I operate the Website from India. If you access the Website from outside India, please be aware that your information may be transferred to and processed in India, where I work with it. It is stored on the servers of the web hosting service that runs the Website. Some of the services in section 6, such as analytics, the AI writing service, and the live chat and calling services, may also process information on their own servers, which can be outside India. By using my services, you consent to the transfer of your information to India and its processing in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable Indian data protection laws.
12. Changes to This Policy
I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in my practices, technology, or legal requirements. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates the most recent revision. I encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the Website or my services after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
